When Apne Bazaar prepared to open its doors, creating the right refrigerated storage was essential to delivering on its promise of bringing the flavors of South Asia closer to the local community. With a wide selection of fresh produce, dairy, frozen foods, and specialty grocery items, the new store required refrigeration that could support multiple product categories while maximizing operational efficiency from day one.
To meet those needs, Leer designed and manufactured a custom cooler-freezer combination walk-in that provides dedicated environments for both refrigerated and frozen inventory within a single integrated system. Measuring more than 36 feet in length, the walk-in combines a 16-foot cooler and a 19-foot freezer, allowing staff to efficiently organize products while minimizing travel throughout the back-of-house area.
Built with 4.25-inch High Density Rail panels, the walk-in features a striking black 26-gauge stucco-embossed exterior that complements the store’s modern design, while the interior utilizes durable 26-gauge stucco-embossed galvanized steel for long-lasting performance. A 16-gauge stainless steel floor provides the durability needed to withstand carts, pallet jacks, and daily commercial use, while separate 36″ x 78″ service doors for both the cooler and freezer allow employees to quickly access products without interrupting operations.
Projects like this demonstrate how custom walk-ins can be tailored to the unique needs of grocery retailers. Whether supporting a neighborhood market, specialty food store, or large-format grocer, Leer partners with customers to design refrigeration systems that maximize storage, improve workflow, and create the foundation for a successful grand opening and long-term growth.
